The South Carolina Maritime Museum (SCMM) Youth Sailing Scholarship Program exists to minimize cost as a barrier to participation in our youth sailing programs and summer camps. Scholarships are awarded based on demonstrated financial need and alignment with SCMM’s mission of education, access, and maritime heritage.

Families with children ages 8-17 may apply to receive partial scholarships for SCMM’s 2026 summer sailing camps.

Scholarships are determined by a review committee based on the following factors:

  • Demonstrated financial need

  • Alignment with SCMM’s educational and maritime heritage mission

  • Availability of scholarship funding

  • Program availability and camp capacity

Applications are reviewed in a competitive process, and meeting eligibility requirements does not guarantee a scholarship.

Committee Policies

  • Applications are reviewed by a minimum of three committee members.

  • To ensure fairness, identifying information may be minimized during scoring when possible.

  • Committee decisions regarding awards are final.

Application Deadlines

SCMM will accept scholarship applications through two review cycles.

  • First Deadline: May 8

  • Second Deadline: June 5

Early application is encouraged.
