


“ALL LEVEL” BOAT BUILDING CAMP (No Previous Experience Required) Ages 8 – 12
For kids who are new to boat building as well as those with some hands-on experience. Campers will be introduced to fundamental woodworking skills, tool safety, and the basics of boat construction. Our focus is on learning by doing—kids will work on real projects from day one, gaining confidence as they bring their creations to life.
Registration is $350. South Carolina Maritime Museum Friends will receive priority registration and a discounted registration fee of $325.
“NEXT LEVEL” BOAT BUILDING CAMP (Some Experience Recommended) Ages 12 – 18
Designed for campers who have attended previous boat-building camps or have some experience with woodworking and tool use. This camp builds on foundational skills, introducing more advanced techniques, project planning, and craftsmanship. New campers who are comfortable working with tools are also welcome and will benefit from the collaborative learning environment.
Registration is $425. South Carolina Maritime Museum Friends will receive priority registration and a discounted registration fee of $400.

All boat building camp registration will be completed online. Both camps will take place from 9 AM – 12 PM EST.

- Drill and Driver Use – Construct Center Frame
- Stem, Sides, and Transom – Attach and Glue
Tuesday
- Install Chine Logs – Use of Pull Saws
- Attach and Fit Bottom
- Keel and Skeg (if time permits)
Wednesday
- Finish Keel and Skeg (if necessary)
- Install Frames and Seat Risers
- Primer Coat on Exterior
Thursday
- Finish Interior – Sanding and Planning
- First Coat of Paint on Exterior
Friday
- Final Coat of Paint
- Install Seats and Oar Locks
- Finishing Touches
